Simon uses only Shure microphones both in live and in the studio. In the last (2015) Protocol III European tour he used two Shure Beta 52a's one for each kick drum, 3 Sm57's, one for each snare drum, Beta 181's for all the 6 toms and for the floor tom, a Beta 52a inside the 20" gong drum, an sm81 for the hi hat and two ksm32 as Overhead and 4 sm57's, one for each octoban.
In the studio he uses the same microphones list of the list above except for the toms on which he uses the KSM 32's and 4 SM7 as room mics.
