Guitars used by John Spinks on Play Deep

John Spinks talks guitars: The original was made at Chandler Guitars in London 1985. From what I remember Roger Giffin was involved with the build. It was custom built and originally had two pickups with a tremolo system with locking nuts at the neck end. Having to unfasten the locking system (to tune it) used to drive me crazy so I eventually had the tremolo and locking system removed. After we finished the recording of 'Play Deep', I used the guitar on the first tours, but as I remember, Bill Wittman said I was crazy to take such a great recording guitar on the road. (so I stopped) From the Bangin' tours onwards I used a 'Tobacco Sunburst Schecter', followed by an array of Gibson Flying V's (my black and white 'V' being my favourite). I've continued to use the original Schecter on all our recordings since Play Deep. Although I do tend to sometimes swap with some of the newer guitars I own just to mix things up. 'The Black Schecter' easily has the most recognizable sound.
