Frederick Felgate is a mastering engineer from Rowhedge, Essex, England. He has a love and appreciation for music’s technical side, combining his musical and creative skills, with his devotion to accurate and pristine engineering practices. Starting out as an electric guitarist, Fred quickly became comfortable with optimizing signal chains and manipulating effects to achieve the desired emotional response. By his late teenage years, he had already become acquainted with more complex studio workflows that implement hybrid digital & analogue systems. After a few recording and production projects, he realized that what really draws him to a career in music is the behind-the-scenes work of making brilliant records. In his own words, “I love the whole process, from capturing the rawest emotional representation of a person performing their art, right up to when the final product is decided upon, and it is sealed into its final medium.
