AJICO is a Japanese rock band known for its eclectic blend of genres and stirring performances. Formed in 2000 by Kenichi Asai (guitar, vocals) and UA (vocals) shortly after the dissolution of BLANKEY JET CITY, AJICO also features TOKIE (bass) and Kyoichi Shiino (drums). Their music is a fusion of J-rock with elements of blues and alternative rock, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly innovative. The band made a notable debut at the Rising Sun Rock Festival 2000 in EZO and left a lasting impact before going on a long hiatus after a 2001 performance at Akasaka BLITZ. AJICO rekindled their musical journey in 2021, continuing to captivate audiences with their dynamic soundscapes.

Kenichi Asai’s use of a Gretsch Tennessean 1964 Electric Guitar delivers a warm, semi-hollowbody tone that layers beautifully with UA’s emotive vocals. The guitar work often features overdriven yet articulate riffs, while TOKIE's bass lines, played on instruments like the Carruthers Guitars SUB-1, provide a solid, groovy foundation. The percussive elements are both driving and nuanced, with Kyoichi Shiino's drumming adding a dynamic pulse that complements AJICO's expansive sound.
