Almendra was a pioneering Argentine rock band that emerged in 1967, playing a pivotal role in shaping the rock en Español movement. Hailing from Buenos Aires, the group was founded by the legendary Luis Alberto Spinetta (vocals, guitar), alongside Edelmiro Molinari (guitar), Emilio del Güercio (bass), and Rodolfo García (drums). Almendra's music is an eclectic blend of psychedelic rock, progressive rock, and art rock, infused with elements of Latin rock and folk, which set them apart in the burgeoning Argentine rock scene. Their work, characterized by poetic lyrics and innovative compositions, left an indelible mark on the genre and inspired countless artists in the region.
