About

Captain Beyond is a progressive rock band that emerged from Los Angeles in 1972, known for its blend of space rock, psychedelic, and hard rock elements. The original lineup featured Rod Evans (vocals) from Deep Purple, Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt (guitar) and Lee Dorman (bass) from Iron Butterfly, and Bobby Caldwell (drums) who had played with Johnny Winter. This supergroup made a significant impact with their self-titled debut album, characterized by its complex structures and exploratory soundscapes. Although they experienced several lineup changes, Captain Beyond's music remains a staple in the evolution of heavy psych and stoner rock.
