About
Clubz is a dynamic musical duo hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, consisting of Coco Santos (vocals, guitar) and Orlando Fernández (synths, production). Known for their innovative blend of Latin rock, Mexican indie, and pop electronico, Clubz has been a pivotal force in the Latin alternative scene since their formation in 2013. Their music resonates with a unique mix of nostalgic and futuristic influences, drawing from genres such as funk, new wave, and electronic music. Releases like Texturas and Épocas have solidified their status as key figures in the post-pop revival across Latin America.
How to Sound Like Clubz
Clubz's sound is characterized by lush, rhythmic grooves and shimmering textures, creating an exhilarating balance between analog warmth and electronic precision. The use of delays and modulation effects, such as the Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy, infuses their music with a vibrant, echo-laden depth. Coco Santos’s guitar work, often played on a Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Thinline, combines clean, jangly tones with subtle overdrive, which can be enhanced by a MXR M133 Micro Amp for added punch. Their sound is further bolstered by synth-driven melodies and layered, atmospheric production, crafting a sonic palette that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, ideal for capturing the essence of contemporary Latin indie music.
