About

Crash Vegas is a Canadian jangle pop band that emerged from Toronto's vibrant music scene in 1987. Initially formed as a side project by Greg Keelor of Blue Rodeo, the band quickly found its own identity with Michelle McAdorey (vocals) leading the charge. The original lineup included Jocelyne Lanois (bass) and Ambrose Pottie (drums), with Keelor handling guitar duties until he was succeeded by Colin Cripps (guitar) from the Spoons. Known for their blend of folk-rock influences and McAdorey's compelling vocals, Crash Vegas gained traction with their debut album Red Earth and the hit single "Inside Out."

How to Sound Like Crash Vegas

The sonic landscape of Crash Vegas is defined by its clean, jangly guitar tones and melodic, folk-inspired arrangements. Their sound is characterized by a blend of bright, resonant chords and rich, layered textures. Guitarist Colin Cripps often utilizes the Fender Jaguar to deliver shimmering, articulate tones that cut through the mix. The use of effects pedals like the Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler adds depth and ambiance, while the Diamond Tremolo TRM-1 introduces a subtle, rhythmic undulation to their sound. This combination of gear helps create the band's evocative and introspective atmosphere, complementing McAdorey's emotive vocal delivery.
