About
CRX is a modern hard rock band born from the vibrant palm desert scene, featuring an eclectic mix of talent. Formed by Nick Valensi, best known as the lead guitarist of The Strokes, CRX includes Ralph Alexander on drums, Jon Safley on bass, and Richie Follin and Darian Zahedi on guitars and vocals. Their music is a dynamic fusion of '70s and '80s power pop and metal influences, drawing inspiration from legendary acts like Elvis Costello, Cheap Trick, and The Cars. CRX's debut album, New Skin, was produced by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, further cementing their place in the modern rock landscape.
How to Sound Like CRX
CRX's sound is characterized by a blend of crunchy, high-energy guitar riffs and melodic hooks, wrapped in a polished yet gritty production. The interplay of Nick Valensi's Gibson Les Paul Special and Epiphone Riviera brings a rich, textured layer to their music, often enhanced with the Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde Ultimate Overdrive for added punch. Their sonic palette is both retro and contemporary, balancing tight, rhythmic precision with expansive, melodic flourishes. This combination of classic rock ethos with modern sensibilities offers a vibrant soundscape that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, perfect for those drawn to the edge of rock's evolving frontier.
