About
Delirious? is a pioneering British band known for their influential role in the Christian rock and worship music scene. Formed in 1996 in Littlehampton, West Sussex, the group emerged from Arun Community Church's worship band. Delirious? consists of Martin Smith (vocals, guitar), Stu Garrard (lead guitar), Jon Thatcher (bass), Tim Jupp (keyboards), and Stew Smith (drums), later replaced by Paul Evans. Their genre-spanning sound blends rock, alternative rock, and Christian rock, making them one of the most prominent Christian bands in the UK. Their breakthrough came with the single "Deeper," which reached the British Top 20, and they are celebrated for albums like King of Fools and Mezzamorphis.
How to Sound Like Delirious?
Delirious? crafts a sound that fuses anthemic rock with spiritually resonant themes, characterized by dynamic guitar work and expansive sonic landscapes. Stu G's use of effects pedals, such as the Roger Mayer Voodoo-1 and Walrus Audio Julia, creates a vibrant mix of overdrive and modulation that complements the band's energetic and uplifting performances. The rich, melodic textures are supported by Martin Smith's emotive vocals and the atmospheric layers from Tim Jupp's Fender Rhodes, forging a sound that is both powerful and contemplative, ideal for capturing the essence of worship in a contemporary rock setting.
