Gentle Giant was a pioneering British progressive rock band active from 1970 to 1980, renowned for their intricate compositions and eclectic musical influences. Formed by the Shulman brothers—Derek (vocals), Ray (bass, guitar, violin, trumpet), and Phil (saxophone, clarinet)—the band also featured Kerry Minnear (keyboards, cello, percussion, vocals), Gary Green (guitar, mandolin), and John Weathers (drums, percussion). Gentle Giant's music defies easy categorization, weaving together elements of rock, art rock, jazz fusion, and symphonic rock.
