Downset is an influential American band known for its fusion of hardcore punk, rapcore, and alternative metal. Emerging from the vibrant hardcore scene of Los Angeles in the late '80s, the group originally formed under the name Social Justice before evolving into Downset. The band comprises Rey Oropeza (vocals), Ares Schwager (guitar), Rogelio "Roy" Lozano (guitar), James Morris (bass), and Chris Lee (drums). Known for their socially conscious lyrics and aggressive sound, Downset was a trailblazer in blending rap and rock elements, setting the stage for many bands that followed.
