About
Falconer is a Swedish metal band renowned for their unique fusion of power metal, folk metal, and symphonic elements. Originating in 1999 as a solo project by guitarist Stefan Weinerhall following the dissolution of his previous band, Mithotyn, Falconer quickly evolved into a full-fledged group. The band's lineup features Mathias Blad (vocals), whose theatrical and melodic singing style brings a distinct character to their sound, and Karsten Larsson (drums), both of whom were integral members from the beginning. Over the years, Falconer has been recognized for their ability to blend traditional Scandinavian folk music with the high-energy and intricate arrangements of metal, as showcased in albums like Chapters from a Vale Forlorn and Black Moon Rising.
How to Sound Like Falconer
Falconer's sound is characterized by melodic and intricate guitar work, often combining the powerful drive of metal with the rich textures of folk music. Stefan Weinerhall's use of the Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar contributes to the band's robust and dynamic riffs, while the Marshall JCM2000 Dual Super Lead amplifies their sound with a crisp yet forceful tone that suits both aggressive and melodic passages. The band's arrangements often incorporate neo-classical influences, with an emphasis on harmonized leads and sweeping solos that add to their epic and grandiose musical narrative. Falconer's music thrives on its ability to juxtapose the grandeur of power metal with the earthy, authentic feel of folk elements, creating a tapestry that is both energetic and evocative.
