Fat Larry's Band was an engaging Philadelphia-based ensemble known for their vibrant blend of jazz, disco, funk, and soul, with a touch of post-disco and R&B flair. Formed in the late 1970s, the group was fronted by charismatic drummer "Fat" Larry James. The lineup was rounded out by talented musicians including Art Capehart (trumpet, flute), Jimmy Lee (trombone, alto saxophone), Doug Jones (saxophone), Erskine Williams (keyboards), Ted Cohen (guitar), Larry Labes (bass), and Darryl Grant (percussion). Despite not achieving major commercial success, their tracks, particularly "Act Like You Know," left an indelible mark on the East Coast funk scene.
