About

Firewater is a genre-defying musical group hailing from New York, best known for their eclectic fusion of alternative punk, folk, and world fusion. At the core of the band is Tod A. (vocals, bass), formerly of Cop Shoot Cop, who leads a rotating ensemble of talented musicians. Notable contributors have included Duane Denison (guitar), from The Jesus Lizard, and Yuval Gabay (drums), formerly of Soul Coughing. Firewater’s music draws on a wide range of influences, from Klezmer and Indian wedding music to cabaret-style lyricism, creating a sound that is as danceable as it is thought-provoking.

How to Sound Like Firewater

Firewater's sound is a vivid tapestry of raw, punk energy mixed with the exotic textures of global music traditions. Their sonic character is both gritty and melodic, with edgy guitar riffs that often cut through layers of diverse instrumentation, creating a rich and immersive listening experience. The band's use of Schecter Solo-II Special and Electrical Guitar Company Duane Denison Chessie guitars, paired with the powerful drive of a Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-60 60W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp, delivers a robust, dynamic sound. These elements are frequently complemented by the sultry and haunting vocals of guest artists, adding depth and a haunting allure to their unique musical landscape. Firewater's compositions thrive on their ability to merge dynamic rhythms with lyrical sharpness, making their music both a visceral and cerebral experience.
