About
Giuffria is an American rock band that emerged in the early 1980s, founded by former Angel keyboardist Gregg Giuffria. Known for their blend of hard rock, glam metal, and arena rock, the group's lineup featured David Glen Eisley (vocals), Craig Goldy (guitar), Chuck Wright (bass), and Alan Krigger (drums). Giuffria is often compared to contemporaries like Journey, and they gained traction with their 1984 self-titled album, which included the hit single "Call to Your Heart". Despite lineup changes and challenges in their later years, Giuffria's music remains a testament to the vibrant rock scene of the 80s.
How to Sound Like Giuffria
Giuffria's sound is characterized by anthemic, soaring melodies and powerful guitar riffs, encapsulating the essence of 80s arena rock. The band's music features lush keyboard textures provided by Gregg Giuffria, using gear like the Korg RK-100 to create expansive sonic landscapes. Craig Goldy's guitar work adds a dynamic edge, employing the crunchy, saturated tones of the Marshall JCM800 2203 and the B.K. Butler 911 Tube Driver for overdrive, crafting riffs that are both melodic and commanding. The rhythm section, led by Chuck Wright's bass and Alan Krigger's drums, delivers a driving, rhythmic foundation that supports the band's vibrant and energetic sound.
