About

Shadow King is a hard rock and glam metal band formed in 1991, emerging from the ashes of classic rock acts. The group was spearheaded by Lou Gramm, former lead vocalist of Foreigner, who brought a powerful and melodic vocal presence. Joining Gramm were Vivian Campbell on guitar, known for his work with Dio and Whitesnake, Bruce Turgon on bass, and Kevin Valentine on drums. Their music is characterized by driving rhythms and soaring melodies, reminiscent of arena rock anthems, with influences drawn from both glam metal and AOR.

How to Sound Like Shadow King

Shadow King's sound is marked by crunchy, melodic guitar riffs and anthemic vocal lines, creating a dynamic blend that captures the essence of classic rock with a modern edge. The guitar tones are shaped by the use of Kramer Nightswan and Vivian Campbell Charvel guitars, which deliver the bright, cutting tones required for their energetic style. Amplifiers like the Friedman Naked and Randall RG100ES head shape the powerful soundscapes that Shadow King is known for, offering a punchy and aggressive tone that complements their high-energy performances. The band's music thrives on this robust yet melodic framework, making use of harmonized guitar leads and driving bass lines to create a sound that is both nostalgic and invigorating.
