About

gorduratrans is a Brazilian shoegaze and lo-fi rock duo originating from the Baixada Fluminense region of Rio de Janeiro. The band is composed of Felipe Aguiar and Luiz Marinho, who together craft a sound that combines the hazy textures of shoegaze with the raw sensibilities of lo-fi rock. Known for albums like Repertório Infindável de Dolorosas Piadas and Paroxismos, gorduratrans explores themes that transcend youthful romance, venturing into more complex narratives within their music.

How to Sound Like gorduratrans

The sonic character of gorduratrans is defined by fuzzy, layered guitar tones and ambient textures that evoke an ethereal yet gritty atmosphere. Their music often features distorted, reverb-laden guitars that create a sense of vastness and depth, a quality achieved with gear like the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi for fuzz and the Behringer DR600 Digital Reverb for spaciousness. The use of a Tagima Memphis Stratocaster provides a solid foundation for their melodic yet slightly dissonant riffs. Their rhythm section complements this with a driving yet understated presence, allowing the music's atmospheric qualities to shine through and envelop the listener in a distinctive sonic landscape.
