Hooray for Earth Members, Gear & Sound

Hooray for Earth is an American music project founded by Noel Heroux in 2004. Initially a solo endeavor, it evolved into a live band featuring various members over the years, including Jessica Zambri, Cristi Jo Zambri, Seth Kasper, Joseph Ciampini, Gary Benacquista, and Christopher Principe. Known for their nu gaze genre, Hooray for Earth combines elements of shoegaze, indie rock, and electronic music. The project has produced two LPs, several EPs, and singles, with Heroux's creative vision driving the band’s distinctive sound.

Hooray for Earth's sonic landscape is marked by lush, layered textures and ethereal melodies, creating a dynamic interplay between electronic and organic elements. Their sound is characterized by dreamy, expansive atmospheres, often utilizing rich synth layers alongside traditional rock instrumentation. Noel Heroux achieves this blend using a mixture of analog and digital tools, crafting an immersive soundscape that is both melodic and rhythmically engaging. Instruments like the Fender Precision Bass, used by Christopher Principe, contribute to the warm, grounding basslines that underpin their tracks. The use of effects such as delay and reverb enhances their ambient, otherworldly vibe, making their music both introspective and expansive.
