About

Reptar is an energetic dance-rock quartet hailing from Athens, Georgia, known for their infectious sound that merges elements of synth-drenched funk and modern dance-pop. Formed in 2008, the band comprises Andrew McFarland (drums), Ryan Engelberger (bass), Graham Ulicny (vocals, keyboards), and William Kennedy (guitar). Their music evokes the spirit of artists like Prince and Passion Pit, offering a vibrant blend of athens indie and shimmer pop that has captivated audiences through memorable performances and recordings such as their debut EP Oblangle Fizz Y'all and full-length album Body Faucet.

How to Sound Like Reptar

To approximate Reptar's exuberant sound, focus on creating a lively and layered sonic environment. Their music is characterized by bright, melodic synth lines and funk-inspired guitar riffs that contribute to a danceable, upbeat atmosphere. Utilizing synthesizers with lush, vintage tones and effects pedals for dynamic modulation can replicate their playful yet complex textures. The rhythm section should maintain a tight, groove-centric foundation, with the bass often taking a lead role in driving the energetic feel. Drums should be punchy and crisp, supporting the arrangement without overwhelming it. By blending these elements, musicians can capture Reptar's compelling fusion of electronic and organic sounds.
