Hothouse Flowers is an Irish band renowned for their vibrant blend of Celtic rock, Irish rock, and new wave pop. Originating from Dublin, the group was formed by schoolmates Liam O'Maonlai (vocals, keyboards) and Fiachna O'Broainain (guitar). They started as a street-performance act called the Incomparable Benzini Brothers, later adding Peter O'Toole (bass), Leo Barnes (saxophone), and Jerry Fehily (drums) to the lineup. Their music, characterized by a passionate infusion of rock with Irish folk and American gospel influences, captured the attention of U2's Bono, leading to a record deal with PolyGram.
