How to Sound Like Kalmah

Kalmah's sound is characterized by a blend of aggressive riffing and melodic passages, creating a dynamic and immersive listening experience. The razor-sharp guitar tones often come from the use of ESP guitars like the ESP SV Standard and Peavey amplifiers, such as the Peavey 6505+ 120-Watt Tube Guitar Amp Head, which deliver a crisp and powerful metal tone. Antti Kokko’s use of the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer adds a layer of overdrive that enhances the guitar's bite, while the keyboards, particularly the Korg MicroKORG, contribute to the band's rich, atmospheric backdrop. Kalmah's music thrives on its ability to balance ferocity with melody, using complex rhythms and harmonies to evoke the haunting landscapes of their Finnish roots.
