About

Kings Go Forth is a vibrant ten-piece retro soul ensemble hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Formed in 2007 by Andy Noble (bass), the group features a diverse lineup including Dan Flynn (guitar), Jeremy Kuzniar (drums), Dave Cusma (trombone), Jed Groser (trumpet), Dave Wake (keyboards), Cecilio Negron, Jr. (percussion), and a dynamic trio of vocalists: Danny Fernandez, Matt Nordberg, and Black Wolf. Kings Go Forth draws inspiration from the soulful harmonic sounds of the '70s, combining elements of funk and soul revivalism akin to the styles of Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse. The band's rich arrangements and tight rhythms have made them a standout in their local music scene and beyond.

How to Sound Like Kings Go Forth

Capturing the essence of Kings Go Forth involves diving into their rich, harmonious blend of retro soul. Their sound is characterized by soulful vocal harmonies and a tight, brass-infused rhythm section. The use of warm, vintage-inspired bass tones is a hallmark of their music, often achieved through instruments like the Epiphone EB-0 Bass. Guitar work in the group often favors clean, rhythmic patterns that intertwine seamlessly with the brass and percussion, creating a groovy, danceable sound. To emulate their style, focus on crafting a vintage vibe with dynamic horn sections and layered vocal harmonies that evoke the classic spirit of Philly soul.
