About
Kyng is a Los Angeles-based trio known for their powerful fusion of stoner rock, sludge metal, and stoner metal. Formed in 2008, the band consists of Eddie Veliz (vocals, guitar), Tony Castaneda (bass), and Pepe Clarke (drums). Their sound is a modern take on the classic heaviness of '70s hard rock, drawing inspiration from the likes of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, while incorporating the melodic sensibilities of more contemporary bands such as Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age. This blend results in a captivating mix that balances raw intensity with infectious grooves.
How to Sound Like kyng
Kyng's sound is characterized by thick, gritty guitar riffs and heavy, resonant bass lines, creating a sonic landscape that's both aggressive and engaging. Eddie Veliz's guitar work often combines muscular riffing with melodic overtones, likely achieved through the use of robust, resonant guitars such as the Dean GS. Tony Castaneda's bass lines, supported by gear like the Schecter Stargazer, provide a deep, driving force that complements the band's dense sound. This is further enhanced by Pepe Clarke's dynamic drumming, which utilizes the DDrum Reflex Kit to deliver powerful rhythms that anchor their compositions. The result is a sound that is both raw and polished, with a compelling blend of melodic hooks and heavy riffs that define Kyng's distinctive style.
