About
Madrugada is a Norwegian rock band known for their atmospheric blend of rock, alternative rock, and indie rock, infused with elements of Norwegian pop and Americana. Emerging from the vibrant 90s rock scene in Norway, the group originally consisted of Sivert Høyem (vocals), Robert Burås (guitar), Frode Jacobsen (bass), and Jon Lauvland Pettersen (drums). Their debut album Industrial Silence (1999) set the stage for their soulful, melancholic sound, characterized by Høyem's mesmerizing baritone and Burås's emotive guitar work. Despite lineup changes and the tragic passing of Burås in 2007, Madrugada's music continues to resonate with its raw and heartfelt intensity.
How to Sound Like Madrugada
Madrugada's sound is defined by its rich, melancholic textures and emotive depth, often driven by dark, resonant guitar tones and Høyem's haunting vocals. The guitars, such as Burås's Fender Jazzmaster '62 Reissue and Gibson 1970 ES-335, produce a brooding yet melodic vibe enhanced by effects like the Boss DD-5 Digital Delay. Amplified through a Fender '65 Twin Reverb, the band's sound achieves a vintage warmth and clarity, while maintaining a sense of spaciousness. Their music balances dynamic, expressive guitar work with rhythmic bass lines, creating an immersive soundscape that's both timeless and evocative.
