About
Meg & Dia is a dynamic musical duo featuring sisters Meg Frampton (guitar, backing vocals) and Dia Frampton (lead vocals), originating from Utah. Known for their eclectic blend of neon pop punk, pop emo, candy pop, and pixie genres, they first captured attention in the mid-2000s. Their early association with Warner Brothers Records and tours alongside acts like Dashboard Confessional helped establish their presence in the alt-pop landscape. After a period of individual exploration — with Meg embracing her entrepreneurial side and Dia achieving considerable success in Southeast Asia — the sisters reunited to create music that reflects their growth and collaborative spirit.
How to Sound Like Meg & Dia
Meg & Dia's sound is characterized by vibrant, candy-coated melodies and emotionally charged lyrics, creating a sonic palette that is both polished and energetically raw. The bright, punchy guitar tones often come from instruments like the Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS20, which complements the crisp, clear vocal delivery of Dia. The acoustic textures of the Orangewood Oliver Cedar add depth and warmth to their compositions, balancing the electric elements with a natural resonance. Their music thrives on dynamic contrasts, employing a mix of upbeat, driving rhythms and introspective, melodic passages to evoke a range of emotions, from the exuberant to the contemplative.
