Yamaha Revstar RSE20, RSS20, RSS02T and RSP02T review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Yamaha's Revstar Standard RSS20 stands out with a resonant, playable design and an attractive price point. The upgraded features, such as the Dry Switch and graphite-reinforced necks, enhance its appeal for modding. However, some players might find the Focus Switch passive boost less favorable, and the RSE20's humbuckers were found off-spec in testing. Overall, this model showcases Yamaha's commitment to quality and innovation while maintaining its unique character, making it a solid choice for guitarists looking for something fresh yet familiar.

Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS20 Electric Guitar Review

laceyguitars.com

The Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS20 dazzles with its striking design and impressive tonal versatility. While its weight may be a concern for some players—hovering around 8 pounds—the guitar excels in comfort and playability. The AlNiCo humbuckers deliver a rich, balanced sound, enhanced by the unique Focus-Switch for tonal customization. However, the standout aesthetics might overshadow some practical features, like the compact control layout, which may not suit everyone’s preference. Overall, it offers a delightful mix of modern and vintage vibes, making it a solid choice for guitarists looking to make a statement.

A truly superb guitar, my favourite so far

A smooth fretboard, carbon re-enforced neck, 5-way switch plus pull-knob for even more sound varieties. You can make it sound like anything, from mellow jazz to funk to rock or metal. Light weight so super on stage. Never had so much great value for money. Beats my Gibson LP and Fender Strat. And no, Yamaha does not sponsor me, sad to say.
