About

Mesh is an alternative electronic band hailing from Bristol, UK, renowned for their evocative synthpop and darkwave soundscapes. The group comprises Mark Hockings (vocals, synthesizers, programming) and Richard Silverthorn (synthesizers, programming). Since the early '90s, Mesh has captivated audiences with their emotionally charged, synthesized music, seamlessly blending elements of electronic, EBM, and industrial genres. They gained recognition after appearing on a Future Music magazine compilation, which paved the way for their debut EP Fragile and a series of acclaimed albums like In This Place Forever and Who Watches Over Me. Their dedicated following has only grown through extensive European tours and a presence on alternative festival line-ups.

How to Sound Like Mesh

Mesh's sound is a tapestry of dark, emotive synth textures and driving rhythmic elements, characterized by a blend of both analog warmth and digital precision. Their music often features lush, atmospheric layers and pulsating beats, creating an immersive and cinematic experience. To achieve their distinctive sound, the band utilizes an array of synthesizers, such as the Behringer Pro-1 and Korg MS-20 Mini, which provide the rich, analog tones that underpin their tracks. Additionally, the Native Instruments Maschine MK3 is integral for crafting their intricate rhythms and samples, adding a modern edge to their sonic palette. Mesh’s music thrives on the balance between melodic depth and rhythmic intensity, making their approach to sound design both dynamic and compelling.
