About

Mestis is an innovative musical project spearheaded by Javier Reyes, a world-renowned guitarist known for his work with Animals As Leaders. Originating from the United States, Mestis is a dynamic exploration of genres, melding elements of progressive metal, math rock, jazz metal, progressive jazz fusion, and djent. Reyes is the sole member, utilizing his virtuosic guitar skills to craft intricate, emotionally resonant compositions. The music of Mestis stands out for its ability to blend technical precision with accessible musicality, making it appealing to a wide range of listeners.

How to Sound Like Mestis

Mestis' sound is characterized by its intricate, melodic guitar work interwoven with rhythmic complexity and jazz-infused harmonies. The music often features a clean yet powerful sonic palette, with Reyes utilizing extended-range guitars like the ESP Custom Vintage Plus 8 String and ESP LTD JR608 Signature Guitar to explore a broad tonal spectrum. The use of sophisticated gear such as the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx 2 XL+ allows for the creation of lush, atmospheric textures that are both technically impressive and emotionally evocative. Mestis' compositions often layer these elements with the driving force of a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, delivering a mix that is both expansive and intricately detailed.
