About

Moneen is a Canadian rock band hailing from Toronto, known for their emotive blend of emo, screamo, post-hardcore, and indie rock. The group originally formed in 1999 with Kenny Bridges (vocals, guitar) and Chris Hughes (guitar, vocals), alongside Mark Bowser (bass) and Peter Krpan (drums). Over the years, the band saw Erik Hughes stepping in on bass to solidify their lineup. Moneen's music combines introspective lyrics with dynamic melodies, making a significant impact within the emo and post-hardcore scenes.

How to Sound Like Moneen

Moneen's sound is characterized by its raw, energetic guitar riffs and emotionally charged vocal delivery, reflecting a mixture of aggression and vulnerability. The interplay between clean and distorted tones is crucial to their sonic identity, often achieved through distortion pedals like the Pro Co TurboRAT that add a gritty edge to their music. The use of a Fender Classic Series '50s Telecaster contributes to the bright, cutting clarity of their guitar work. Meanwhile, the rhythm section, featuring a Gallien-Krueger 800RB Bass Amp Head and an Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Cabinet, lays down a powerful and resonant foundation that complements the band's dynamic shifts between melodic passages and explosive crescendos. Moneen's music thrives on its ability to evoke both introspective and cathartic experiences, underscored by their compelling instrumentals and passionate performances.
