Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Fender Classic Series '50s Telecaster.

Build quality

  • The Telecaster's ash body finish can age to a milky white with a cream-yellow pickguard, and this aging varies significantly between guitars.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Owners report that the guitar retains its setup well over time, with minimal adjustments needed even after years of play.

    Source

User experience

  • Some players appreciate the glossy neck's slick, non-sticky feel, finding it more comfortable than the necks on contemporary Fenders or Squiers.

    Source
  • The Classic 50s Esquire, considered the best-playing guitar by an owner, had a slightly bright pickup, which was easily adjustable.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The shared polarity and winding of pickups result in buzzing in all three positions; a reverse-polarity pickup could mitigate this issue.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Replacing chrome barrel saddles with Wilkinson compensated brass saddles mellows the tone and improves intonation.

    Source
  • Swapping out the original hardware for gold can give the Classic 50s Tele a distinctive Mary Kaye aesthetic.

    Source
  • The Baja 50s Tele is noted for its unique V-shaped neck profile and S1 phase switching, offering diverse tonal options compared to the Classic 50s.

The Real Tele-tone

Cheap... But if you're lookin for the real Tele-tone you can easily found it here! I bought it used and for a very very very low price... I can't stop playing it! I will probably change the Pickups but for the rest it's incredible. It has all the 50's specs that i was looking for and mine in particular is a very lucky one, i guess, because the woods are sooooo light and resonant!

Vintera series). The foto provided in particular is from the "I made a soundtrack for Stranger Things | song supply" video but we can see him using that same guitar on tour too.
