The band evolved into a full lineup with the addition of Adam Schrager (guitar), Shawn Gardiner (guitar), "Metal" Chris (bass), and Early Gates (drums). Known for their evolution over time, Morning Glory has released critically acclaimed albums like Poets Were My Heroes and War Psalms, showcasing their growth and maturity in the punk scene.
How to Sound Like Morning Glory
Morning Glory's sound is characterized by dynamic, high-energy punk rhythms, interwoven with melodic ska influences. To capture their robust and gritty vibe, consider focusing on crunchy guitar tones that can be achieved through overdrive and distortion pedals, delivering both aggressive and clean chord progressions. Ska-infused riffs benefit from upbeat, rhythmic strumming patterns and occasionally incorporate cleaner, reverb-drenched sections to add contrast. The bass lines are often driving and prominent, providing a steady foundation that complements the propulsive punk drumming. The drums themselves are fast-paced and punchy, emphasizing snappy snare hits and tight cymbal work to maintain the high energy typical of their live performances. Overall, Morning Glory's music thrives on a balance of intensity and melody, making use of layered guitars and intricate arrangements to create their compelling and anthemic sound.
