Nucleus is an influential British band that helped pioneer the fusion of rock, jazz, and progressive elements into a unique sound often associated with the Canterbury scene. Formed in 1969 by innovative trumpeter Ian Carr, the band initially featured a lineup of talented musicians including Karl Jenkins (saxophone), John Marshall (drums), and Chris Spedding (guitar). Nucleus gained early acclaim with their performance at the Montreux International Festival in 1970, leading to groundbreaking albums like Elastic Rock and We'll Talk About It Later. Their sound evolved through lineup changes, with Carr continuing to lead the band until its dissolution in the mid-1980s.
