Pilot is a Scottish glam rock band formed in 1973, known for their catchy hooks and polished pop sensibilities. The original lineup featured David Paton (bass, vocals), Billy Lyall (synthesizer, flute, vocals), and Stuart Tosh (drums), with Ian Bairnson (guitar) joining after their debut album. They gained widespread recognition with hit singles like "Magic" and "January," the latter reaching the number one spot in 1975. The band's sound is characterized by its melodic richness and the seamless integration of rock and pop elements, paving the way for their later work with The Alan Parsons Project.
