About
Quietdrive is an American band known for their energetic blend of alternative rock and pop punk. Originating from Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2003, the group was formed by Brandon Lanier (drums), Droo Hastings (bass), and Justin Bonhiver (guitar), who connected with Kevin Truckenmiller (vocals) through MP3s he had posted online. The lineup was completed with the addition of Matt Kirby (guitar, vocals), a college friend of Truckenmiller. Quietdrive gained traction through extensive touring in the Midwest and a strong online presence, leading to their debut album When All That's Left Is You in 2006.
How to Sound Like Quietdrive
Quietdrive's sound is characterized by dynamic, high-energy guitar riffs and catchy, melodic hooks. Their music often combines the crisp, punchy tones of overdriven guitars with tight, rhythmic drumming to create a powerful yet polished sound. To emulate their style, guitarists might focus on using overdrive pedals to achieve a bright, crunchy tone, while favoring tube amps for added warmth and clarity. The bass lines are assertive and rhythmic, complementing the driving beats of the drums to maintain a cohesive and energetic rhythm section. Vocal arrangements often feature harmonic layering and anthemic choruses, which can be replicated by focusing on vocal harmonies and dynamic range to capture their pop-punk edge.
