About
Redbone is a pioneering rock band with deep roots in Native American culture, founded in Los Angeles by brothers Pat Vegas (bass, vocals) and Lolly Vegas (guitar, vocals). Joined by Tony Bellamy (guitar, vocals) and Pete DePoe (drums), Redbone is celebrated for their eclectic fusion of rock, pop rock, funk rock, and swamp rock, infused with elements of Native American music. Their music gained widespread acclaim with hits like "Come and Get Your Love," which showcased their unique ability to blend mainstream rock with indigenous influences, earning them a place in the Native American Music Awards Hall of Fame.
How to Sound Like Redbone
Redbone's sound is a vibrant tapestry of funk-infused grooves and robust rock energy, characterized by rich, expressive guitar work and rhythmic diversity. The warm, punchy tones of Lolly Vegas's guitar playing, often achieved through his use of a Fender Stratocaster and vintage Marshall amps like the Marshall 1987X 50 Watt Head, lend the music a powerful yet melodic edge. The band's dynamic interplay is further enhanced by Pat Vegas's foundational bass lines, often performed on a Fender '52 Precision Bass, creating a distinctive groove that is both rhythmic and melodic. The percussive drive of Pete DePoe's drumming injects an infectious energy, completing Redbone's lively and engaging sound.
