About
Saetia is a pioneering American band at the forefront of the late 1990s emo and screamo movements. Originating from New York City, the group formed in 1997 and quickly became influential in the underground music scene. Saetia's lineup included Billy Werner (vocals), Greg Drudy (drums), Jamie Behar (guitar), Alex Madara (bass), and Adam Marino (guitar). They are renowned for their intensely emotional and raw sound, blending elements of emo, screamo, post-hardcore, and hardcore punk. Despite their brief existence, Saetia left a lasting impact with their self-titled album and various EPs, which continue to resonate with fans of the genre.
How to Sound Like Saetia
Saetia's sound is characterized by its chaotic yet melodic guitar work, which intertwines with passionate, often anguished vocals. The band's compositions feature dynamic shifts between quiet, introspective moments and explosive, aggressive outbursts. Jamie Behar's use of the Gibson SG Standard delivers a sharp, cutting tone, further enhanced by gear like the Tech 21 NYC SansAmp PSA-1 for added grit and texture. The use of a Boss DD-6 Digital Delay intertwines layers of sound, creating a sense of urgency and depth. The rhythm section, led by Greg Drudy's propulsive drumming, anchors the frenetic energy while allowing room for the intricate, mathcore-inspired guitar interplay that defines their intense and cathartic musical experience.
