About

Santa Sabina is a Mexican rock band renowned for its eclectic blend of rock, rock en español, Latin rock, and gothic rock. Formed in the early '90s, the group was initially conceived when actress Rita Guerrero joined forces with members of a band called Los Sicotrópicos, evolving into a new project known as Santa Sabina. The band’s lineup has seen changes over the years, with pivotal members including Pablo Valero (guitar) and Jacobo Lieberman (keyboards). Later, Alex Otaola took on guitar duties, bringing a distinctive flair to their sound. Santa Sabina is celebrated for their dynamic live performances and their commitment to social causes, such as benefit concerts for indigenous communities.

How to Sound Like Santa Sabina

Santa Sabina's music is characterized by an atmospheric and mystical sound that blends melodic and rhythmic elements with a touch of gothic ambiance. The band's sonic landscape is often textured and layered, creating an immersive experience for listeners. Alex Otaola's guitar work is central to their sound, utilizing effects like the DigiTech Whammy DT to add pitch-shifting dynamics, and the Boss SL-20 Slicer for rhythmic slicing effects. These tools, combined with the warm, expressive tones of a Gibson Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar, contribute to the band's rich and haunting aural tapestry. The use of ambient effects and layered instrumentation is crucial in achieving their unique blend of Latin rock infused with an alternative and gothic edge.
