Shellac is an American rock band that emerged from the vibrant Chicago music scene in the early 1990s. The group is composed of Steve Albini (guitar, vocals), known for his influential work with Big Black and as a renowned recording engineer; Bob Weston (bass, vocals), who also boasts a significant engineering background; and Todd Trainer (drums, vocals), whose dynamic drumming completes the trio. Shellac's sound is rooted in post-hardcore, noise rock, and math rock, characterized by minimalist yet intense compositions that defy mainstream music industry conventions.
