How to Sound Like SHISHAMO

The sonic character of SHISHAMO is characterized by a bright, punchy energy that combines the raw edge of garage rock with the melodic sensibilities of J-pop. Asako Miyazaki's guitar work often features crisp, jangly tones achieved through her use of the Fender Telecaster paired with pedals like the Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive for a gritty, overdriven sound. The band's rhythm section, anchored by Aya Matsuoka's bass, provides a driving foundation with the help of gear such as the Providence Dual Bass Station bass preamp, adding depth and richness to their music. Meanwhile, Misaki Yoshikawa's drumming injects a lively, upbeat tempo that keeps the music vibrant and engaging. Together, SHISHAMO's sound is a vibrant tapestry of melodic hooks and rhythmic precision that invites listeners to experience the joyous spirit of Japanese rock.
