Sianvar Members, Gear & Sound

Sianvar is a dynamic post-hardcore supergroup formed in 2013, originating from the collaboration of members from notable bands such as Hail the Sun, Dance Gavin Dance, Stolas, and A Lot Like Birds. The group consists of Donovan Melero (vocals), Will Swan (guitar), Sergio Medina (guitar), Joseph Arrington (drums), and Michael Franzino (bass, replacing original bassist Michael Littlefield). Sianvar's music is a powerful fusion of post-hardcore, math rock, and progressive post-hardcore, creating a unique sound that is both intricate and energetic. Their debut EP and subsequent album, Stay Lost, showcase their ability to blend complex rhythms with emotive vocal performances.

Sianvar's sound is characterized by intricate guitar work and dynamic shifts, seamlessly blending aggressive, math-influenced riffs with atmospheric and melodic interludes. The guitars often employ a mix of distortion and modulation effects, as seen in Will Swan’s use of the Boss DS-1 Distortion and Eventide Space Reverb, which help create an expansive yet tightly controlled sonic landscape. The rhythm section, driven by complex drumming patterns and solid bass lines, adds to the band's precise yet chaotic energy. The overall mix is both aggressive and polished, ensuring that each intricate layer is given room to breathe while maintaining the intensity that defines their sound.
