Soften the Glare is an innovative musical group that blends the intricacies of progressive metal, the improvisational spirit of jazz fusion, and the rhythmic intensity of djent. Formed by three virtuoso musicians, the band features Ryan Martinie on bass, known for his work with Mudvayne and his masterful technique and dynamic range; Bon Lozaga on guitar, whose background in jazz-rock brings a rich harmonic palette; and Mitch Hull on drums, providing complex rhythms and driving grooves. Together, they create a sound that is both technically proficient and emotionally engaging, drawing influences from a wide spectrum of musical genres.

Soften the Glare’s sound is a fusion of aggressive rhythms and melodic intricacies. Their sonic character is marked by dynamic interplay between the bass and guitar, with Martinie's bass lines often taking the lead role, enhanced by his use of Warwick Star Bass II and Fodera Ryan Martinie Signature "Blondie". These basses, paired with the thunderous power of an Ampeg SVT-810E 8x10 Bass Cabinet and the Ampeg SVT-4PRO 1200-Watt, create a rich, resonant low-end that underpins the band's sound. Lozaga’s guitar work adds a harmonically adventurous and texturally complex layer, providing both melodic counterpoints and atmospheric backdrops.
