In this video (at 03:42) Mattias says "So I have a Dunlop passive volume pedal, which is great because the guitar is a nasty instrument..." "...I want the guitar to be quiet and silent, and when you're not playing, you know, shut the fuck up!". Later in the video (at 04:57) he talks about how he doesn't like noise gates, and proceeds to demonstrate how he uses his volume pedal as both a gate and how he gets a clean tone, without touching the amp itself.
