Soulwax is a Belgian electronic rock band that has carved a niche for itself with its innovative approach to music blending genres such as electronic, rock, electroclash, and indie rock. Originating from Ghent, Belgium, the group is spearheaded by brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, who are known for their multifaceted roles as musicians, producers, and remixers. The current lineup also includes Stefaan Van Leuven (bass), Iggor Cavalera (drums), Aurora Bennett (vocals), Blake Davies (drums), and Laima Leyton Cavalera (keyboards, vocals). Over the years, Soulwax has become known for their dynamic live performances and their ability to seamlessly merge rock's raw energy with the intricate textures of electronic music.

Soulwax's sonic character is a fusion of gritty electronic textures and driving rock rhythms, creating a sound that is both aggressive and danceable. Their music is characterized by a rich layering of analog synthesizers, such as the Korg MS-20 and EMS Synthi A, which contribute to their distinctive, retro-futuristic vibe. The pulsating bass lines often played on a Fender Mustang Bass provide a foundation that is both melodic and rhythmic, while the use of vintage guitar tones, as seen with instruments like the Vox V209 Phantom IV, adds a raw, edgy texture to their music.
