How to Sound Like Texas in July

Texas in July's sound is characterized by its aggressive and intricate guitar work, underpinned by a tight, rhythmically complex foundation. The guitars often feature a crisp, high-gain distortion, achieved through the use of gear like the LTD Ltd TE-1000 and Kiesel DC600H. Guitarist Chris Davis’s use of the Neural DSP Quad Cortex and Fractal Axe-Fx II enriches their sound with a range of meticulously crafted effects and amp simulations, adding depth and precision to their music. The drums deliver relentless double-kick patterns, while the bass provides a thunderous low-end punch, driving the band’s ferocious energy. Together, these elements form a dense, layered soundscape that is both visceral and technically proficient, appealing to fans of heavy, rhythmically complex metal music.
