The Bamboos are an Australian musical collective renowned for their dynamic fusion of acid jazz, funk, soul, and modern funk. Formed in Melbourne in 2000, the group was initially founded by Lance Ferguson (guitar), who is also known for his electronic side projects as DJ Lanu. The band's original lineup included Ben Grayson (Hammond organ), Stuart Speed (bass), and Scott Lambie (drums), with later expansions introducing a horn section featuring Ross Irwin (trumpet) and Anton Delecca (tenor saxophone, flute). Vocalist Kylie Auldist has been a significant presence in their recordings from the band's second album onwards, adding a soulful layer to their evolving sound. Over the years, The Bamboos have grown from a deep funk revivalist group to a more sophisticated act, incorporating elements of hip-hop, psychedelic pop, and cinematic sounds into their music.
