The Cottars are a Canadian musical group hailing from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, renowned for their vibrant blend of Celtic rock, Celtic, and folk music. Formed in 2000, the group originally consisted of two pairs of siblings: Ciarán MacGillivray (vocals, piano, guitar, bodhrán), Fiona MacGillivray (vocals, tin whistle, piano), Jimmy MacKenzie (vocals, guitar, fiddle), and Roseanne MacKenzie (vocals, fiddle, step dancing). Known for their energetic performances, the ensemble combines traditional Celtic tunes with elements of modern folk and sea shanties, appealing to audiences worldwide with their youthful spirit and rich musical heritage.
