About
The Flower Kings are a Swedish progressive rock band celebrated for their expansive compositions and symphonic soundscapes. Formed in 1994 by Roine Stolt (vocals, guitar), the group has seen various lineup changes but currently includes Hasse Fröberg (vocals, guitar), Jonas Reingold (bass), Zach Kamins (keyboards), and Mirko DeMaio (drums). Their music draws heavily from the traditions of art rock, symphonic rock, and neo-progressive styles, echoing the grandiosity of classic prog legends like Yes and Genesis. Known for their intricate arrangements and dynamic performances, The Flower Kings continue to explore the boundaries of modern progressive rock.
How to Sound Like The Flower Kings
The Flower Kings’ sound is an intricate tapestry of rich, melodic guitar lines and lush keyboard textures that create a symphonic, yet accessible, auditory experience. Their music often features complex time signatures and elaborate instrumental passages, underscored by a warm, harmonically rich guitar tone. This distinct sound is partly achieved through the use of Orange TH100 Head amplifiers, which provide a powerful and versatile tone palette. The interplay between Roine Stolt's Parker Fly Deluxe and intricate keyboard layers introduces a unique blend of clarity and depth. The use of Moog Taurus 3 Bass Pedals adds a dynamic low-end presence that enhances the band's symphonic scope, making their compositions both grand and immersive.
