About

The Haxans is a dynamic Goth-pop duo that blends dark, theatrical aesthetics with infectious pop elements. The group consists of Ashley Costello and Matt Montgomery (aka Piggy D.). Costello, known for her work as the frontwoman of New Years Day, brings her subcultural style and powerful vocals to the mix. Piggy D., a long-time bassist for Rob Zombie and a collaborator with various rock icons, adds his multi-instrumental prowess and horror-punk flair. Together, they create a sound that draws from classic horror cinema, spooky decadence, and vintage Americana, embodying a vibrant and eclectic mix of pop, rock, and theatrical goth.

How to Sound Like The Haxans

The Haxans' sound is characterized by a sugar-coated darkness that is both playful and haunting, with a mix of catchy melodies and cinematic undertones. Their music combines bright, melodic synths with gritty guitar and bass lines, often enhanced through the use of distortion and reverb for a larger-than-life presence. Piggy D.'s bass work, utilizing instruments like the ESP E-II Stream Bass and Fender Precision Bass, provides a robust low end that complements the band's vibrant, theatrical vibe. The use of the MXR M116 Fullbore Metal pedal contributes to their aggressive yet polished sound, infusing their tracks with a touch of metal edge that enhances their goth-pop fusion.
