The In Crowd was a Jamaican reggae ensemble celebrated for their contribution to the reggae, lovers rock, roots reggae, and rocksteady genres. Emerging in the late 1970s, the group was spearheaded by Phil Callender (lead guitar, vocals, percussion) alongside Errol Walker (lead vocals), Clevie Browne (drums, vocals), Tony Lewis (bass, vocals), Freddie Butler (keyboards), and Wigmore Francis (guitar). Their sound was further enriched by a horn section with Egbert Evans (tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, flute) and Barry Bailey (trombone). The band gained widespread recognition with their hit single "We Play Reggae," capturing the essence of summer with its laid-back rhythm and melodic appeal.
